Thornton, or Thornton by Horncastle, is a small hamlet about 1 mile (1.6 km) south of Horncastle, Lincolnshire, in the civil parish of Roughton.

The village was mentioned in Domesday Book of 1086, when it had 19 households, and the Lord of the Manor was Robert the bursar.[1]

The greenstone parish church is dedicated to Saint Wilfrid and is a grade II listed building dating from the 15th century and restored in 1890 by Ewan Christian.[2]
